WASHINGTON D.C. - OCTOBER 16, 2023. In the aftermath of the attacks on Israel by Hamas and their subsequent escalating war, TheVulnerable People Project is calling for both sides to prioritize the protection of civilians, especially women, children, the elderly, and the sick.

“VPP urges Israel and Hamas to commit to prioritizing the safety of civilians,” said Jason Jones, founder and president of The Vulnerable People Project. “The world is watching and demands that all sides find ways to reduce civilian casualties. Furthermore, I am imploring Hamas to release hostages as a sign of a commitment to protect innocent non-combatants.”

The Vulnerable People Project will be monitoring, broadcasting and reporting on all civilian casualties.

His Holiness Pope Francis on Sunday said, “Humanitarian law is to be respected, especially in Gaza. Please, let no more innocent blood be shed, neither in the Holy Land nor in Ukraine, nor in any other place! Enough! Wars are always defeat, always!”

On October 7 Hamas attacked Israel in an unprecedented surprise ambush killing more than 1,400 people, mostly innocent civilians. Israel pounded back with air strikes and has told residents to leave northern Gaza ahead of its next stage of its war with Hamas which will be waged on the ground. More than 2,600 people have died.

Last week, VPP called for a global day of prayer and fasting for peace in the region and as an action of solidarity with the vulnerable. VPP continues to prayerfully unite with Jews, Christians, and Muslims from around the world to foster peace.

“We must all work together to preserve a culture of life, a civilization of love and peace,” said Jason Jones.
