Free Our Bishops
Free the Church. End the Secret Vatican-China Deal.
Dear American Catholics,
The Catholic Church in China is not free.
The Chinese Communist Party has spent years seeking control over Catholic life. Faithful bishops have been detained, disappeared, or prevented from shepherding their people. Priests and lay Catholics have been pressured to choose between fidelity to the Church and submission to the state.
But through it all, the Vatican has remained bound and silenced by a secretive agreement with Beijing. This agreement does not merely endanger Catholics in China. It compromises the freedom of the whole Church – including even the freedom of Pope Leo XIV to govern the Church and choose her shepherds without interference from an officially atheistic communist regime.
Disgraced former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick helped broker this deal. Pope Leo merely inherited it.
But he can end it.
Join the Vulnerable People Project in asking the Vatican to end this agreement now – or, at the very least, refuse to renew it when its current term expires.
